Nolan wore his "TFP" hat during the interview. The Ted Nolan Foundation provides scholarships for First Nations families who cannot need assistance.

Garth I understand what you are saying but if they can dump michalek and or Martin and replace with rookie contracts (desperation, morrow,Harrington, strait, bertuzzo) there is plenty to go around keep in mind the cap is going up and that's only a 300k raise for Sid as he makes 8.7.. Also I don't find buffalo and Pittsburgh to be good trade Partners.

Let's wait and see how much more Sid gets per year when he signs the contract. I'm willing to bet its not that much more. Crosby's extension WON'T push Staal out of town. That said, I don't see Buffalo being a good trade partner with Pittsburgh for Staal. I don't see anything that fits and makes sense as far as a Penguin perspective.

Myers, Roy, Stafford, and Buffalo's first for Malkin and Martin.

Staal staying in Pittsburgh might not rely solely on what the Penguins want. If Staal wants to be a team's top center and not remain a #3, then the Pens might have to deal him before he becomes an UFA.

Jordan isnt a number one Center. Him playing behind his brother would be legit for his career. He would still not have alot of pressure on himself. Its almost a perfect fit.

But if they cant afford to pay him what he deserves he will be forced out or take a pay cut. He worth a good 4mil a yr. maybe 4 and a half.

Dude ... look at the post I responded to. He would rather be a third line center in Pittsburgh than being a first line center at X or a second at Y. If he leaves, its money, not the situation of being third on the depth chart.

Besides, do you know what the cap will look like? You don't. There are two or three pieces not named Letang, Malkin, Crosby, Neal, Fleury that the Pens can move to clear cap space. Just an FYI.

I think they need to build a 3nd line around Kennedy and sell Staal at an all time high. IMHO. Im a fan of Kennedy.

hes already making 4 mil per year. the pens will probably offer him 5 mil. if the cap goes up to 70 mil and the pens can get rid of martin then they can resign staal no problem for at least another 3 years

Martin and Michalek are the biggest contracts to look at. Kunitz maybe. But i doubt he is dealth. There is so much money tied up into Cros and Malkin. You guys need another quality top six winger.

Why? They pay a premium for Crosby and Malkin to elevate the play of their linemates, they do just that.

I wouldn't rule out that top 6 winger being Staal with Crosby either.

They pay a premium because one, Crosby is the best the game has ever seen. Ill say that i dont like him the perosn. Two Malkin on his game is Top 5 player in the league offensively.

So you have made my point for me. They are so good they are able to turn average players into above average players, thus not making it a necessity to acquire top end winger talent outside of Neal.

Two of the games best players still need quality wingers. Or just give them each one. A good one in Neal for Cros and a decent one in Kunitz for Malkin?. Maybe switch them since Neal has more time with Malkin and they seem to click.

He already makes 4 so 4.5 per is only 800k increase from #87 and #11 raises, not too hard to keep them under the cap then. Staal can ask for more though 5-5.5 if he wanted and that becomes a problem

i like neal with malkin and kuni with crosby. only thing neal and malkin need on the other wing is a speedy, gritty player who is good in the defensive zone.

Im not denying that there is money to keep Staal. But there are other holes to fill. If you guys were to deal Staal now. This is most def the highest his stock has been ever. Just saying. Everyone would love the idea of 3 wicked talented Centers. But staal may not want to leave. But he may not want to be number 3 his whole life.
